アーユルヴェーダの文献において、グッグルは没薬という名前でも知られており、植物名はCommiphora Mukulです。グッグルは、インドの伝統ハーブ療法で重要な役割をしているCommiphora Mukulの木から抽出した、粘性のあるガム状の樹脂です。アーユルヴェーダによると、グッグルは、苦味と渋みがあり、体力を向上し、消化を助け、熱い性質とスパイシーな味によって血行を改善し、声帯の腫れを軽減し、声をきれいにするとされています。

また、消火剤、料理の前菜としても使われており、体内の過度な粘液質を取り除き、血糖の低下を助けます。
