ゴクシュラはインド全土で見られる細いつる型の植物です。植物名ではトリビュラスと呼ばれ、一般的には「スモールカルトロップ(Small Caltrops)」とも呼ばれています。アーユルヴェーダにおいてトリビュラスは、泌尿生殖器に作用すると考えられています。トリビュラスは、痛みを伴う排尿(灼熱感)、低尿量、腎臓のろ過機能の低下などの症状がある時、 煎じ薬または輸液の形で(1カップ分の水に 1~2杯のハーブを加えて沸騰させ、冷却／ろ過の後、お茶として飲む) 使われます。

トリビュラスパウダーは、男性と女性の性的欲求と精力を改善・増進するのを助けます。アーユルヴェーダによると、トリビュラスは尿路の障害物を取り除き、浄化し、感染や腎臓結石を取り除くのを助けます。ゴクシュラはまた膀胱をきれいにし、毒素、感染症、炎症を取り除くのを助けます。
